The Tummy Gauge

For several months now, Alexandra has started using her tummy to tell us when she needs something or when she wants to do something. It goes something like this:

"Mom, my tummy says it's thirsty."
"Mom, my tummy isn't tired."

I can never really expect what her tummy needs or doesn't need, wants or doesn't want. Apparently, it has a mind of its own as well. So not only am I negotiating with this cute little 4 year old, but now, I am also negotiating with her tummy!! Crazy, insane and wild, I know.

Quite often my response goes something like this:
"Well, Alex, tell your tummy it will need to wait till we get home to get some water."
"Tell your tummy it is bedtime, and it is going to bed tired or not."

Brandon and I often giggle when her "tummy" has yet another thing to do or say. Just yesterday she told me her tummy didn't want to pick up her room. You can't make these things up. Kids-- expect the unexpected!

OH MY GOSH...Tacy has been using her tummy in the same way!! My friends think it's so hilarious that they've started the same phraseology as well..."my tummy isn't tired. My tummy doesn't feel like going to work." Good stuff.
