My stint as an artist

I have been meaning to post some pictures of the murals I created and painted for our Vacation Bible School program this summer. I was thrilled to hear that our church had selected to do Gospel Light's VBS program for the year (ok, so I am totally a GL fan- shoot, I worked there for 6 years and I totally believe in the curriculum and their writers and editors! Go Sheryl!). SinceCade was much older this summer, separation from Momma seemed a bit more doable. Alexwas super excited to go to her class and I was jazzed about teaching the 5 year old class.

In prep for the big week, and because I have good connections and insight into how the curriculum was developed, I was able to help answer teacher questions and help provide a better understanding of all the options within the program itself. I also somehow managed to "volunteer" for assisting with the decorating. At least, assisting was what I thought I had signed up for. Needless to say, 2 nights before the big start of VBS, I was still painting murals in my living room. Somehow, with God's help and several late nights, I managed to complete 3 main murals that tied with the theme. These puppies were big! Each mural was about 6'x10'.

Considering I am no artist, I was pretty impressed with how they turned out!

These turned out great! They are lucky to have you. And those are seriously big. We were talking about all the little jobs that come up once your a parent (twenty cookies tomorrow, costumes for the play, etc), at mops today. I'm a bit out from those commitments still, but they still sound daunting and exciting.
