It is finally that time of year...blueberry season! Since we eat so many blueberries throughout the year, I decided to take the kids today to pick our own at a local farm. With Cade packed into the backpack, and Alex and I with buckets in hand, we headed for the fields!Alex and Cade both ate their weight in berries- another fun aspect of picking your own. We managed to pick 10 pounds in a little over an hour. The best part was that they only cost $1.50 per pound, verses the normal Chilean import price of $4.99 for 16 oz! Yes, something to be said about endless, tasty, fresh, locally grown gorgeous blueberries.
Tomorrow, when I am feeling spontaneous, I hope to work up enough energy to make some blueberry jam and some blueberry buckle coffee cake.

How fun! That really is one of the most amazing things about the Northwest. We'll be in town next week and I'm looking forward to the blackberries.
Gaile!
Okay - so how could you not think about our days picking a few berries together... when we slaved and slaved for a meager wages. :-) And when I read this post, I also thought about what Alex used to call blueberries... did she call them 'boobies'? I know she called strawberries, 'strawbabies'! Anyway - love those berries and the thought of you three picking them and eating them...
Ah, yes Heids, who can ever forget those blessed days in the berry fields...only to earn $75 bucks between us both!! Fond memories...:)
